NE1 Launch Co-location Trial.Press release 16 August 2011 NE1 Internet (Newcastle ONE Leisure Limited) are providing a free trial of our Server Colocation service to other local businesses for the month of September and October! NE1 are throwing open the doors to other local businesses to show them how co-location can help them operate more smoothly and gain maximum resiliency for their IT based business critical information and services they maintain. Companies are able to use our server hardware during the trial to prevent any impact on their business operation. What is Colocation? Colocation allows you to place your server machine in someone else's rack and share their bandwidth as your own. It generally costs more than standard Web hosting, but less than a comparable amount of dedicated bandwidth into your place of business. Advantages of Colocation 1. The biggest advantage of colocation is the cost for bandwidth. For example, a low cost limited bandwidth business grade ADSL line generally costs around £30 - £100, but for the same price or less a single server can be placed in a colocation facility that provides higher bandwidth speeds and better redundancy for the network connections. 2. NE1 Colocation facilities have better power outage protection. As a colocation provider, we are providing power resilience, UPS devices and generators. 3. You own the server machine. If you decide that the machine is too slow or doesn't have enough memory, you can simply upgrade the server. You don't have to wait for your provider to get around to upgrading it. 4. You own the server software. You don't have to rely on your hosting provider to install the software or tools you want to use. You simply do it yourself, when you want to. 5. If you move premises, you can leave the server up and running the entire time. When you host your own domains you have to either pay for two lines for some time, to move the domains to the new location or deal with outages while the servers are moved to the new location. 6. NE1 provides provide additional security for your machines. Your server is stored and maintained in a secured environment. 7. NE1 offer a service where we can manage and maintain your server for you for an extra cost. This is especially useful if you don't have IT team members or your office is located some distance from our data centre. What are NE1 Offering? NE1 are offering local businesses the opportunity to place their server in our racks for a period of one month, totally free of setup and rental charges, to allow them to experience the service. If the business does not have a suitable server, NE1 can provide loan equipment for the duration of the trial. All with no obligation. All the business has to do is contact us, we will talk through the requirements and send our team to collect the server to be collocated, if required. We will install it in our racks and power it up.
