NE8 Is One Of The Coolest Parts Of The Web!Press Release – 5th October 2011 NE1 Internet (Newcastle ONE Leisure Limited) are happy to announce that NE8 is now one of the coolest places on the web! NE1 have now completed the commissioning of their NE8 Data Centre after the installation of the latest in Air Conditioning technology after a long and problematic planning phase. This marks the official opening of the Data Centre to customers who have waited patiently for almost 18 months. NE1 contracted the Acrol Air Conditioning Company Ltd to design, supply and install the units, which are environmentally friendly and more efficient than standard air conditioning units. The units which are manufactured by Daikin are capable of cooling the data centre more than twice over, providing valuable redundancy in case of breakdown or failure. Other Data Centre features include UPS protection, Generator backed electricity supply and a multitude of IP Transit Providers. Currently, the Data Centre offers several connectivity options, BT Net and Cogent, with Global Crossing and Virgin Media due to be connected soon, representing a massive internet investment in the Gateshead based Data Centre. Once the new providers are online, clients will have over 400Mb of dedicated internet access at their disposal with the capability to reach up to 40Gb. The Data Centre also has access to the G-Ti network, delivered by Gateshead Council and Alcatel-Lucent the network allows businesses in Gateshead to operate at a super speed of up to 10 Gigabits per second of bandwidth with a capability of delivering speeds in the region of 40 Gigabits per second to meet future demand. The Data Centre currently offers Web Hosting, Co Location, Dedicated Servers, Rack Space and Internet Connectivity and is offering a free trial to qualifying businesses. NE1 are also in discussions with several property owners in the Newcastle/Gateshead area for a second Data Centre in the area which will be linked by dedicated fibre and offer more space than the current Data Centre, this will make NE1 the only Data Centre operator in North East England to own and operate their own fully redundant Data Centre solution.
